BNV : শমূযেলের খবর সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলে জানাজানি হয়ে গেল| এলি খুব বৃদ্ধ হয়ে গেল| তার পুত্ররা প্রভুর চোখের সামনে অন্যায় চালিযে যেতে থাকল|সেই সময় পলেষ্টীয়রা ইস্রায়েলের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধের জন্য বেরিয়ে পড়ল| ইস্রায়েলীয়দের তাঁবু পড়ল এবন্ এষরে| পলেষ্টীয়রা তাঁবু গাড়ল অফেকে|
KJV : And the word of Samuel came to all Israel. Now Israel went out against the Philistines to battle, and pitched beside Eben-ezer: and the Philistines pitched in Aphek.
YLT : And the word of Samuel is to all Israel, and Israel goeth out to meet the Philistines for battle, and they encamp by Eben-Ezer, and the Philistines have encamped in Aphek,

ERVEN : News about Samuel spread throughout Israel. Eli was very old. His sons kept doing bad things before the Lord. At that time the Israelites went out to fight against the Philistines. The Israelites made their camp at Ebenezer. The Philistines made their camp at Aphek.

KJV : And when the people were come into the camp, the elders of Israel said, Wherefore hath the LORD smitten us to day before the Philistines? Let us fetch the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of Shiloh unto us, that, when it cometh among us, it may save us out of the hand of our enemies.
YLT : And the people cometh in unto the camp, and the elders of Israel say, `Why hath Jehovah smitten us to-day before the Philistines? we take unto us from Shiloh the ark of the covenant of Jehovah, and it cometh into our midst, and He doth save us out of the hand of our enemies.`

ERVEN : The rest of the Israelite soldiers went back to their camp. The elders of Israel asked, "Why did the Lord let the Philistines defeat us? Let's bring the Lord's Box of the Agreement from Shiloh. God will go with us into battle and save us from our enemies."

BNV : শীলোয লোক পাঠানো হল| তারা প্রভু সর্বশক্তিমানের সাক্ষ্যসিন্দুক নিয়ে ফিরে এল| সিন্দুকের ওপর দুটি করূব, যেন প্রভুর সিংহাসন| এলির দুই পুত্র হফ্নি আর পীনহস সেই পবিত্র সিন্দুক নিয়ে এসেছিল|
KJV : So the people sent to Shiloh, that they might bring from thence the ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth [between] the cherubims: and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, [were] there with the ark of the covenant of God.
YLT : And the people sendeth to Shiloh, and they take up thence the ark of the covenant of Jehovah of Hosts, inhabiting the cherubs, and there [are] two sons of Eli, with the ark of the covenant of God, Hophni and Phinehas.

ERVEN : So the people sent men to Shiloh. The men brought back the Lord All-Powerful's Box of the Agreement. On top of the Box are the Cherub angels. They are like the throne that the Lord sits on. Eli's two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, came with the Box.

BNV : শিবিরে প্রভুর সেই সাক্ষ্য সিন্দুক আসার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে ইস্রায়েলীয়রা জোরে চেঁচিয়ে উঠল| তাদের চিত্কারে মাটি কেঁপে উঠল|

KJV : And when the Philistines heard the noise of the shout, they said, What [meaneth] the noise of this great shout in the camp of the Hebrews? And they understood that the ark of the LORD was come into the camp.
YLT : And the Philistines hear the noise of the shouting, and say, `What [is] the noise of this great shout in the camp of the Hebrews?` and they perceive that the ark of Jehovah hath come in unto the camp.

ERVEN : The Philistines heard Israel's shout and asked, "Why are the people so excited in the Hebrew camp?" Then the Philistines learned that the Lord's Holy Box had been brought into Israel's camp.

BNV : পলেষ্টীয়রা ভয় পেয়ে গেল| তারা বলল, “ঈশ্বর ওদের শিবিরে এসেছেন| আমাদের এখন বেশ বিপদ| এরকম তো আগে কখনও হয় নি|
KJV : And the Philistines were afraid, for they said, God is come into the camp. And they said, Woe unto us! for there hath not been such a thing heretofore.

BNV : আমরা বিপদে পড়েছি| কে আমাদের এই পরাক্রমী দেবতাদের হাত থেকে বাঁচাবে? এই সব দেবতারা মিশরীয়দের নানা ব্যাধি, ভয়ঙ্কর সব অসুখ দিয়েছিলেন|
KJV : Woe unto us! who shall deliver us out of the hand of these mighty Gods? these [are] the Gods that smote the Egyptians with all the plagues in the wilderness.
YLT : Wo to us, who doth deliver us out of the hand of these honourable gods? these [are] the gods who are smiting the Egyptians with every plague in the wilderness.
RV : Woe unto us! who shall deliver us out of the hand of these mighty gods? these are the gods that smote the Egyptians with all manner of plagues in the wilderness.

ERVEN : We are worried. Who can save us from these powerful gods? These gods are the same ones that gave the Egyptians those diseases and terrible sicknesses.

BNV : হে পলেষ্টীয়রা, সাহস রাখো| বীরের মতো লড়াই করো| অতীতে ইব্রীযরা ছিল আমাদের ক্রীতদাস| তাই বলছি, বীরের মতো লড়াই চালাও, নইলে তোমরাই তাদের ক্রীতদাস হবে!”
KJV : Be strong, and quit yourselves like men, O ye Philistines, that ye be not servants unto the Hebrews, as they have been to you: quit yourselves like men, and fight.
YLT : Strengthen yourselves, and become men, O Philistines, lest ye do service to Hebrews, as they have done to you -- then ye have become men, and have fought.`

BNV : তাই পলেষ্টীয়রা প্রবল বিক্রমে যুদ্ধ করে ইস্রায়েলীয়দের পরাজিত করল| ইস্রায়েলীয়দের প্রত্যেকটি সৈন্য তাঁবুতে পালিয়ে গেল| ইস্রায়েলীয়দের পক্ষে এটা একটা মারাত্মক পরাজয় ছিল| 30,000 ইস্রায়েলীয় সৈন্য নিহত হল|
KJV : And the Philistines fought, and Israel was smitten, and they fled every man into his tent: and there was a very great slaughter; for there fell of Israel thirty thousand footmen.

ERVEN : So the Philistines fought very hard and defeated the Israelites. The Israelite soldiers ran away and went home. It was a terrible defeat for Israel. 30,000 Israelite soldiers were killed.

BNV : নগরের ফটকের কাছে এলি একটা চেযারে বসেছিল| এমন সময় ঐ লোকটা শীলোতে এল| ঈশ্বরের পবিত্র সিন্দুক নিয়ে এলির খুব দুশ্চিন্তা হচ্ছিল| সেই জন্য সে বসে বসে প্রতীক্ষা করছিলো| তারপর ঐ বিন্যামীন গোষ্ঠীর লোকটি শীলোয় এসে দুঃসংবাদটা জানালে শহরের সবাই চেঁচিয়ে কাঁদতে শুরু করল|
KJV : And when he came, lo, Eli sat upon a seat by the wayside watching: for his heart trembled for the ark of God. And when the man came into the city, and told [it,] all the city cried out.

ERVEN : Eli was worried about the Holy Box, so he was sitting there by the city gate waiting and watching when the Benjamite man came into Shiloh and told the bad news. All the people in town began to cry loudly.

YLT : And Eli heareth the noise of the cry, and saith, `What -- the noise of this tumult!` And the man hasted, and cometh in, and declareth to Eli.

ERVEN : Eli was 98 years old. He was blind, so he could not see what was happening, but he could hear the loud noise of the people crying. Eli asked, "Why are the people making this loud noise?" The Benjamite man ran to Eli and told him what happened.

ERVEN : He said, "I am the man who just came from the battle. I ran away from the battle today." Eli asked, "What happened, son?"

YLT : And he who is bearing tidings answereth and saith, `Israel hath fled before the Philistines, and also a great slaughter hath been among the people, and also thy two sons have died -- Hophni and Phinehas -- and the ark of God hath been captured.`

BNV : লোকটির মুখ থেকে ঈশ্বরের পবিত্র সিন্দুকের কথা শোনা মাত্র এলি চেযার থেকে দরজার কাছেই পড়ে গেল| তার ঘাড় ভেঙ্গে গেল| সে বৃদ্ধ এবং মোটা ছিল, তাই সে বাঁচল না| সে20 বছর ইস্রাযেলকে নেতৃত্ব দিয়েছিল|

ERVEN : Eli's daughter-in-law, the wife of Phinehas, was pregnant. It was nearly time for her baby to be born. She heard the news that God's Holy Box was taken. She also heard that her father-in-law Eli and her husband Phinehas were both dead. As soon as she heard the news, her pain started and she began giving birth to her baby.
